Local 48 Wins Certification with University of Akron

IATSE Announces Agreement with NETworks

On Friday, September 10, 2004, the Employees working at the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio, engaged in Theater or working as Theater Technical Specialists, Theater Costume Design or as Theater Technical Productions Assistants, voted unanimously to become members of the IATSE.

Ultimately, the 12 people working in the Costume Shop and the Theaters, for the School of Dance, and the Theater and Arts Administration, will be covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The Election itself was supervised by the SERB (State Employee Relations Board) of the State of Ohio. The Official Certification of the Election should become final shortly.
