The IATSE successfully organized the road crew employed with the touring company of Troika’s “Swing,” Thomas Short, International President of the IATSE, announced. The IA received voluntary recognition from the company and has reached a tentative agreement, which includes employer contributions for health and welfare, and annuity benefits for the crew. The contract is the non-traditional touring contract, also known as a “modified pink contract.”
The union will represent the nine-member crew consisting of stagehands, make-up artists, hair stylists and wardrobe personnel.
The International now represents road crews traveling with Troika’s production of “Chicago,” “Cats” and “Swing.”
IATSE International Ron Lynch spearheaded the organizing effort. “Swing” is scheduled to have a national tour from September 2001 to May 2002.
