The IATSE successfully organized the road crew employed with the touring company of Troika’s “Cats,” Thomas Short, International President of the IATSE, announced. The IA received voluntary recognition from the company and has reached a tentative agreement which includes employer contributions for pension, health and welfare, and annuity benefits for the crew. The contract is the non-traditional touring contract, also known as a “modified pink contract.”
The union will represent the twelve-member crew consisting of stagehands, make-up artists, hair stylists and wardrobe personnel.
This organizing effort was spearheaded by IATSE International Representative Ron Lynch. “Cats” is slated to have a national tour from August 2001 to May 2002.
