IATSE Organizes “Like Dandelion Dust”

IA President Short Appoints Safety Chairman

Jacksonville , FL — Organizers from Locals 477, 600 and the IATSE successfully obtained an agreement with the low-budget motion picture, “Like Dandelion Dust”, starring Academy Award winner, Mia Sorvino.

The agreement called for benefit contributions, overtime, better working conditions, and additional industry standard conditions. Two days of negotiations culminated in an agreement, although the Producers were reluctant at first to give the IA an “all-in” budget or to begin negotiations. A reasonable deadline was given and then 90% of the crew struck the Production for a day.

Over 75% of the crew signed authorization cards and most of the non-union crew accepted applications into their appropriate local union.

International Representative Ben Adams, along with Local 477 Business Agent, Jack Nealy and Local 600 Field Rep John Hilsman, led the efforts for representation.
