IATSE Local 56 Signs First Agreement with Salle Jean-Grimaldi

IATSE Canada logo

Montreal , QC – IATSE Local 56 successfully negotiated a first collective agreement with Salle Jean-Grimaldi, which it organized in 2003. The agreement introduces health and pension plan contributions. The agreement also provides wage increases of up to 14.7% for the lowest paid employees, and includes overtime adjustments along with additional industry standard conditions.

The agreement demonstrates the local’s flexibility with regard to smaller venues and will serve as a template for further organizing opportunities in similarly sized venues.

Salle Jean-Grimaldi, an 888-seat theatre, opened its doors in 1978 as part of Andre Laurendeau College and is a busy venue operating in La Salle, a former suburb of Montreal, which became part of the city in 2003.
