IATSE Organizes ‘America’s Next Top Model

IA President Short Appoints Safety Chairman

After a traditional organizing drive and a filing with the National Labor Relations Board, employees of Anisa Productions, “ America’s Next Top Model,” have voted overwhelmingly to be represented by the IATSE. The secret ballot election, conducted by the NLRB, was held Monday, Dec. 4 in Los Angeles. The count was 36 in favor of IA representation, one against.

The IA will immediately begin bargaining for the contract benefits due approximately 60 employees of the reality show, who will join various locals under the IA umbrella, including those representing camera, grip, electric, sound, property, hair/makeup, and wardrobe. IA Local 700 already has a contract in place representing editors on the program.

IA President Thomas C. Short, pleased with the expected outcome of the vote, said “This election points up the importance of bottom-up organizing and grass roots representation. These employees have always belonged in the IA and we are pleased to bargain on their behalf.”
