SAN FRANCISCO – IATSE Local 119 (Television Broadcast Studio Employees), Belmonte Productions, and Golden Boy Promotions have reached an agreement which covers the crew of approximately 20 members. Following a short discussion, the agreed-upon contract will pay the crew local area standard wages.
International Representative John Culleeny and F.X. Crowley (Local 16 member and Principal of FXCrowley Company, Labor Relations, Government Affairs & Communications) were on site to assist Local 119. Belmonte Productions specializes in producing boxing matches and Golden Boy Promotions was founded by boxing legend Oscar de la Hoya.
The contract recognizes the value of the skills the IA crew brings to the job and the employers’ willingness to address the issues important to the crew, who will receive healthcare and retirement benefits. Prior to negotiation, Belmonte Productions was paying crew well under the local area standards.
Local 119 Business Representative Daniel Nicholson stated in a local press release, “Belmonte Productions originally crewed non-union. Today that changed. Belmonte Productions founder Frank Belmont was professional and surprised to see an IATSE presence. He agreed after a few phone calls with Fox and Golden Boy Productions to payroll through SAMMCO, a crewing alliance.”
