Solidarity Now! Support Workers in Wisconsin and Ohio!

IATSE General Board Endorses Obama 2nd Term

Public Service workers and their unions are under attack in Wisconsin and Ohio, with protests beginning to take shape in several other states. Thousands of working families have turned out to let Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker know it’s not acceptable to take away the rights of workers to collective bargaining in his state. This is part of a national campaign to destroy unions as the most effective and powerful progressive force in America. It is the most serious threat to organized labor in generations, and it has to be stopped.

Allowing this to happen is not a choice and is nothing less than an attempt to break unions and further decimate the middle class of this country. Without organized labor protecting union families there is no guarantee of pension and health care, of safe working conditions, of fair wages, of overtime compensation.

We must stand alongside our brothers and sisters in these beleaguered states so that this union-busting disease does not become contagious. Members of IATSE locals in Wisconsin, Ohio and other states are urged to show their solidarity with public service workers and wherever working families’ rights are being threatened.

We stand alongside these union members as a unified force against those who would strip us of the hard-won benefits it has taken us decades to build.
