The past week has been a busy one for the Motion Picture Department. Four very different projects were organized thanks to one important act: near the start of production, members alerted their Locals about their non-union shoot.
Independent feature Married Young is now providing its crew with retroactive benefits and working conditions back to date of hire.
Aquarius, a new one hour network drama by ITV Studios that just began shooting at Paramount, was brought under contract with full vacation and holiday pay, triple time, enhanced meal penalties, longer daily and weekend turnaround, and extra holiday provisions.
The crew on a month long New Deal Studios shoot are now under contract with benefits and wages retroactive to date of hire.
Finally, a YouTube internet series, Richie Rich, was signed up with a significant wage increase and retroactive benefits and working conditions.
All projects were negotiated with the understanding that if a contract was not reached, the crew was willing to strike. This week has shown that acting as a strong and unified group gets results!
