Vancouver, BC – Local 118 concluded successful negotiations of a first collective agreement with the Vancouver International Fringe Festival. The concept of the Fringe Festival was born in Edinburgh 55 years ago and currently there are almost 100 theatre groups and performers who participate in Fringe Festivals across Canada. The first annual Vancouver Fringe took place in 1985 and has seen increasing support since that time.

The agreement provides for wage increases of up to 22%, inclusive of benefits. Major improvements were made to working conditions, especially with regard to turnaround, meal penalties, and overtime structure.
