This past week, IA and Local 600 Representatives landed in Oklahoma City after being contacted by the crew of “Rudderless,” an indie feature directed by and starring William H Macy.
Much of the crew was not yet union, but they were enthusiastic when contacted by the IA. On Sunday, after a weekend spent gathering signed cards authorizing the union to represent its technicians, the IA reached out to production. Within 24 hours, with no break in shooting, a contract was agreed to.
Before their call time on Tuesday morning in Guthrie, Oklahoma, the Local 600 and IA Representatives met with the crew to explain that they will now receive health and pension contributions retroactive to date of hire, as well as the contract provisions of the National Low Budget Agreement, including mileage, housing, and per diem for those who live 60 or more miles from the production location.
