Magic Hour Lighting & Grip Rental Signs Contract
Local Renews Groundbreaking Contract
IATSE President Thomas C. Short proudly announced that IATSE Local 720 continues to expand its reach throughout the City of Las Vegas with organizing efforts and contract renewals.
The Local recently organized the uniform wardrobe technicians who work with non-theatrical costume workers at Circus Circus. The new three-year agreement will cover 13 regular employees, as well as three “on call workers” and covers a separate bargaining unit that addresses all areas including working conditions, salary, pension, health and welfare. This agreement comes on the heels of the January 2004 contract covering Local 720’s traditional jurisdiction with regard to wardrobe employees. Circus Circus is located on the Las Vegas Strip.
Local 720’s Wardrobe Representative Holly McKinnis, with the assistance of Circus Circus stagehand Maria Morris, led the organizing efforts. McKinnis also acted as the key contract negotiator.
Magic Hour Lighting and Grip Rental also signed a three-year agreement with the Vegas Local. The company specializes in the rental and maintenance of lighting and grip equipment to the entertainment industry. IATSE Representative Dan Mahoney and Local 720 Chief Steward Frank Mancini were instrumental in securing this agreement which will provide for guaranteed wages and benefits for Local 720 members.
IATSE Local 720 has also tentatively concluded negotiations on the renewal of its groundbreaking agreement with the Freeman Decorating Company to provide supplemental labor to the Teamsters. This Supplemental Agreement was first negotiated in 2002 and clarified jurisdictional conflicts, and established an outstanding working relationship between two separate labor unions. This forward thinking contract with Freeman was forged by IATSE International President Thomas C. Short and Teamster General President James P. Hoffa, and has been instrumental in creating an influx of work for members of both IATSE Local 720 and Teamsters Local 631.
