The IATSE successfully organized the road crew employed with the touring company of Big League Theatrical’s production of “The Music Man,” Thomas Short, International President of the IATSE, announced. The IA received voluntary recognition from the company and has reached an agreement, which includes employer contributions for health and welfare, and annuity benefits for the crew. The contract is the non-traditional touring contract, also known as a “modified pink contract.”
The union will represent the thirteen-member crew consisting of stagehands, make-up artists, hair stylists and wardrobe personnel.
IATSE International Ron Lynch spearheaded the organizing effort. “The Music Man” is slated to have a national tour from October 2001 to August 2002.
