IATSE Successfully Negotiates Contract With J.C. Studio

IA President Short Appoints Safety Chairman

IATSE President Tom Short announced today that negotiations have recently been concluded with J.C. Studios located in the old NBC Studios in Brooklyn, New York. J.C. Studios produce the daytime soap opera, “As The World Turns.”

In its ongoing commitment to organizing the IATSE was successful in a representational card count (79% of the J.C. Studio employees) giving the union bargaining authorization on December 27, 1999. The agreement with the Studios runs for 3 years. In addition to increased wages, the agreement provides a benefit package of 22%, which will cover 76 staff and per diem employees.

Although the International will hold the contract, there will be eight (8) of its affiliated Locals supplying the required personnel. Participating locals are Local 4, Stagehands; Local 52, Sound; Local 161, Production Continuity; Local 600, Camera; Local 700, Editors; Local 764, Wardrobe; Local 798, Make-up and Hair, and United Scenic Artists Local 829.
