IATSE Organizes Toronto Craftservice Employees

IATSE Canada logo

Late in 2002, craftservice employees working in the motion picture industry in Toronto approached IATSE Local 411 for representation. The local subsequently organized those working in the industry and, with the assistance of the International, commenced negotiation of an industry-wide term agreement with the CFTPA (Canadian Film and Television Production Association).

Negotiations for a first collective agreement were recently concluded, and on October 18th, the craftservice members ratified the contract with an overwhelming majority. The agreement provides for substantial increases in wages, improvements in working conditions and the introduction of health and pension benefits.
