IATSE Local 8 Certified as Bargaining Agent for Stagehands at the Bristol Riverside Theatre

IATSE Announces Agreement with NETworks

The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 8 has been certified as the bargaining agent for stagehands at the Bristol Riverside Theater Company.

Bristol Riverside Theater Company, Inc., operates a three hundred seat theater located in Bristol, Pennsylvania. IATSE Local 8 filed a petition with the National Labor Relations Board seeking to represent certain employees of the theater.

An election was held in July 2013 resulting in one determinate challenged ballot. On August 21, 2013, the NLRB presided over a hearing on the determinate challenged ballot and decided that the challenged ballot should be opened and counted.

On November 25th, 2013, the determinate challenged vote was counted and IATSE Local 8 was certified as the Bargaining Agent for Stagehands at the Theater and Theater Shop.

“The organizing drive at the BRT is a direct result of the success Local 8 has achieved in representing regional stagehands at the recently organized Philadelphia Theater Company,” said International Vice President Michael Barnes. “Local 8, with the assistance of President Loeb and the International Defense Fund, is making a full time commitment to raise the area standards of regional stagehands by bringing the workers together to speak with a collective voice.”

Bargaining for a new agreement will begin immediately.
