Wilshire Stages in Los Angeles, California voted by a 3-1 margin to join the Motion Picture Editors Guild, IATSE Local 700. The secret ballot election was officially certified by the National Labor Relations Board last week.
Wilshire Stages is a premier facility for re-recording mixing for features and television. The new bargaining unit will be composed of re-recording mixers, recordists, engineers, and other sound technicians. About 35 employees will be affected. Contract negotiations are scheduled to begin this week.
