The IATSE has secured agreements with Lions Gate Productions covering theatrical and television motion pictures under various term agreements throughout the United States and Canada, it was announced today by Thomas C. Short, International President of the IATSE.

The Company has agreed to become party to the IA’s National Low Budget Theatrical Contract, the Hollywood Basic Agreement, the 16 States Area Standard Agreement as well as the term agreement with Local 873 for television in Toronto and the major studio agreements of all of the New York Production Locals. This accomplishment is especially significant because the Union has had bitter disputes with Lions Gate and some companies which it recently acquired. The Company’s transition in becoming a major player in production along with the Union’s continued vigorous organizing and emphasis on term agreements made for a productive atmosphere for negotiations.

Matthew Loeb, Division Director of the Motion Picture and Television Production Department, spearheaded the negotiations.
