IATSE Local 64 won the right to represent stagehands at Wheeling Racing Association, Inc. in Wheeling W.V., it was announced by International President Thomas C. Short.
The unit consisted of 14 workers that were eligible to participate in the NLRB-ordered election. The results were overwhelmingly in favor of union representation. As a result of this hard fought, long-sought-after victory, IATSE Local 64 now represents the workers’ interests in the areas of working conditions, salary, pension, health and welfare.
IATSE Local 64 Business Agent Frank Scarnecheia spearheaded the organizing drive with the help of International Vice President J. Walter Cahill.
