TORONTO, ON – On December 2, 2014, the Alberta Labour Relations Board certified IATSE Local 210 as the bargaining agent for all theatre technicians at the Maclab Centre for the Performing Arts. After a brief organizing campaign, Local 210 filed for certification of the theatre techs at the venue on November 5. The Maclab Centre, located in Leduc, Alberta, is the region’s preeminent performing arts facility. As one of the largest venues in the area, the 460-seat theatre hosts everything from music, theatre, and dance events to award ceremonies.

The representation vote was held on November 28 and the majority of employees voted for union representation. Local 210 is looking forward to working with the Maclab Centre management to maintain a successful community theatre, and the crew is looking forward to working under its first collective agreement.
