Boston – The IATSE General Executive Board has endorsed the Trumka Team, lead by incumbent President Richard Trumka, for leadership of the AFL-CIO when that organization holds its Quadrennial Convention in Los Angeles in September. Trumka will be running for a second term, having first been elected in September, 2009. The 57 AFL-CIO unions represent more than 12,000,000 working people in every walk of life.
The General Executive Board is holding its 2013 Mid-Summer meeting in Boston prior to its own 67th Quadrennial Convention that begins here on Monday. IA President Matt Loeb has been on the AFL-CIO Executive Council since 2008, and also sits on the AFL-CIO Special Executive Council Committee on Union Repositioning, a committee that was established to oversee a major new initiative to build a new understanding of unions among the public.
