In the wake of the horrific events at the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, D. C. and in Pennsylvania, the IATSE has donated $50,000 to the New York State World Trade Center Relief Fund, it was announced by Thomas C. Short, President of the International Union. These monies are intended to aid the relief efforts of the New York State and City emergency response, Short added.

“America was attacked on September 11 and it was felt by our sisters and brothers in all our Territories, and Canada. Moreover, it was felt globally by every citizen of every democracy on this planet. This donation expresses our solidarity with the victims of this tragedy as well as the rescue workers and volunteers who are working around the clock to help New York recover,” Short asserted.

The fund, established by New York Governor George Pataki, will be coordinated with the September 11 Fund, established by the United Way of New York City and New York Community Trust, and the Twin Towers Trust Fund established by the City of New York.
