The IATSE has wholeheartedly endorsed the establishment of a breakthrough Copyright Alerts program that will notify users when they are downloading material that constitutes content/digital theft. A joint effort between the MPAA, RIAA and Internet providers AT&T, Comcast, Cablevision, Time Warner Cable, and Verizon, the action accompanies the establishment of the Center for Copyright Information to educate the public on the importance of protecting creative work.
International President Matthew D. Loeb said, “The Copyright Alerts system is another important step in the continuing battle against content theft. It is critical that the public understands the harmful effects that digital theft has on our members and all of the creative community. This helps to address a major source of this theft.”
