First Agreement Reached Between Local 822 and Molson Amplitheatre

Toronto, Ontario– IATSE Local 822 successfully concluded negotiations with Live Nation recently over hair, makeup, and wardrobe employees at the Molson Amphitheatre. The Amphitheatre, which seats up to 16,000 people, is one of Toronto’s premier concert venues.

Local 822 had previously negotiated citywide bargaining rights with Live Nation, the current owners of the Molson Amphitheatre. Live Nation asserted that these rights did not apply to the Molson Amphitheatre, which it had acquired subsequent to that agreement being reached. After protracted negotiations stretching over almost two years, Local 822 determined it would proceed to arbitration. Live Nation came back to the table and an agreement was quickly reached.

The three-year agreement provides for wage increases of 3% per year, as well as the introduction of health benefits, vacation pay and retirement benefits totaling 16.5%. The agreement, which was unanimously ratified by the Local 822 membership, confirms that there can be no contracting out of wardrobe, hair and makeup work, and that all hiring must be done through the local.
