In a mutually agreed upon move, the Hair and Makeup Unit at Disneyland Resorts voted to transfer their representation to the IATSE Local 706, International President Thomas C. Short announced. Previously represented by SEIU 1877, approximately 35 hair and make-up professionals voted unanimously to make the change in an FMSC officiated election held on June 17, 2005.
The IATSE is very pleased to welcome this hard working group of professional makeup and hair artists into IATSE Local 706,” stated International President Short. “This was a long time coming and happily anticipated.
Preliminary conversations on the change over began in late 1999. All parties agreed that moving the unit from SEIU 1877 to IATSE Local 706 was most beneficial to the members, putting the artisans with their peers and enhancing their career paths.
