Congressman Connolly Refuses to Cross Union Picket Line & Cancels Filming of Cameo in Sharknado 3 Production

We thank Congressman Connolly for supporting workers and the IATSE.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Gerry Connolly on Friday canceled his scheduled filming for a cameo role in the upcoming movie Sharknado3 when he learned that union crew members from IATSE were on strike against the movie’s production company.

Connolly, an amateur thespian who has appeared in numerous community theatre productions, said, “While I would have enjoyed filming my brief cameo appearance for Sharknado3, I cannot be a party to the firing of a film crew seeking unionization, or its replacement with scab labor.”

The Virginia Democrat said he has never crossed union picket lines and has always supported the rights or workers to unionize and bargain collectively.

“While the thought of participating in my first movie production was alluring, I think I was destined to be eaten by sharks, anyway,” Connolly said.
