Paul F. Dean Unanimously Elected to IATSE General Executive Board as 13th International Vice President

NEW YORK, NY — The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees’ General Executive Board unanimously elected Paul F. Dean, Jr. to serve as the 13th International Vice President on Thursday. James J. Claffey Jr., former president of IATSE Local One, stepped down from the board in May.

Dean is a fifth generation Local One Stagehand who has worked throughout Local One’s jurisdiction for 42 years in venues including the Metropolitan Opera House, various television studios, Broadway Theatres and numerous industrial events. In May 2022, Dean was re-elected to his fourth term as Local One’s Theatrical Business Manager, a role he has exceled in since 2013. “It’s a privilege and honor to serve the membership of Local One,” he said.

He also serves as Chairman of the Local One Education Committee, creating opportunities for the membership with up-to-date training and technology, such as Vari-Lite and the Entertainment Technician Certification Program (ETCP).

“Paul Dean Jr. has proven his commitment to the membership of his Local and this Alliance. I look forward to his continued contributions into the future,” said International President Matthew D. Loeb.
