Matthew Cain Appointed IATSE Director of Communications

Jewish Labor Committee Honors Loeb

LOS ANGELES, CA — Matthew Cain has been named as the Director of the Department of Communications for the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE). He fills the role left open by the departure of former Director of Communications Emily Tao earlier this month.

“The IATSE is excited to welcome Matthew Cain to his new role, and we know that his background in political communications and organizing will help our union chart a path forward,” said International President Matthew Loeb. “The IATSE would also like to extend our thanks to Emily Tao, who led the Communications Department since its creation, and was pivotal in launching the IATSE Young Workers Committee. We wish her the best in her future work.”

Matthew Cain joined the IATSE in the Fall of 2017, as Communications Coordinator. Previously, he was the Digital Campaigns Coordinator for Caring Across Generations, a policy advocacy nonprofit working to change the caregiving system in the United States. While there, he led digital advocacy and communications, helping drive members to take action, and he designed a digital campaign that helped win a groundbreaking program to support caregivers in Hawaii. He has worked as a digital fundraising consultant for elected officials and candidates, and worked on local political campaigns in New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. He currently serves on the New York State Committee of the Working Families Party.
