Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards reelected with vital support from IATSE

IATSE General Board Endorses Obama 2nd Term

On Saturday, John Bel Edwards was reelected as Louisiana’s Governor with vital support from the IATSE. Governor Edwards has been a stalwart advocate for Louisiana’s entertainment industry and its workers.

Under Edwards’ leadership, “Louisiana Has Seen A 200% Increase In Independent Film Activity Since 2017 [The Advocate, 9/28/18], and in 2009, Edwards received The State Union Legislator Of The Year Award For Supporting Union Issues 100% Of The Time. [Times Picayune, 11/28/2009].

IATSE International Vice President Phil S. LoCicero, President – Local 478 commented, “even though Louisiana is a deep red state, fortunately the voters saw through Mr. Rispone’s partisan political platform and acknowledged Governor Edwards’ accomplishments over the last four years.”

Local 478 represents film and television production workers in Louisiana and is headquartered in New Orleans.

Cory Parker, Business Agent – Local 478 added, “with the President coming here three different occasions to prop up his [Gov. Edwards] opponent, we needed everyone to pitch in at any level. We put signs in our yards as well as across the city with the AFL-CIO, we had members volunteer for phone banking and knocking on doors and contributed financially to his campaign. It was a team effort throughout the community to help get him re-elected and we are grateful to have the International get involved.”

Congratulations to Governor Edwards, we look forward to your continued support for IATSE working families.
