Kimberly Bowles Elected To lead Orange County Democrats

IATSE General Board Endorses Obama 2nd Term

On June 19, 2006, members of the Orange County Democratic Party elected Kimberly Bowles as its new Chair. Ms. Bowles assumed the leadership role immediately and will guide the local Democratic Party through the 2006 election cycle.

The Chair position became vacant in May when Tim Shea stepped down. Ms. Bowles will be the Chair until December 2006 at which time the regularly scheduled election will be held to elect a Chair for a two-year term.

Ms. Bowles has been a member of the Orange County Democratic Executive Committee since 2000 and a member of the Board of Directors since 2004. She was an integral member of the local Democratic Party’s long range planning committee that helped reestablish the Party as a unified, well managed, disciplined operation that supports elected local Democrats as well as Democratic candidates.

In addition, Ms. Bowles sits on the Board of Directors of the Florida AFL-CIO and since 1993 has been an executive officer of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local No. 631. In 2003, Mayor Buddy Dyer appointed her to the Public Art Advisory Board for the City of Orlando. Also, Orange County Mayor Rich Crotty recently appointed her to the Civics Authorities Facilities Board.
