IATSE Welcomes Progress Toward Modernized Canadian Content Definition

IATSE is continuing to review the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission’s (CRTC) long-awaited update to the definition of Canadian content which was released yesterday.

Our union has been outspoken for the need to modernize the definition of Canadian Content to include the key creative work being performed by our members. It appears we have been heard, and we are pleased with the direction of the CRTC to expand recognized creative positions in defining Canadian content.

IATSE has also been advocating for flexibility and cautioned the CRTC to cause no harm to an industry which is increasingly fragile on a global basis.
