The IATSE successfully organized the road crew employed with the bus and truck touring company of Troika’s “Chicago”; Thomas C. Short, International President of the IATSE, announced. The IA received voluntary recognition from the company and has reached a tentative agreement which includes employer contributions for pension, health and welfare, and annuity benefits for the crew. The contract is the non-traditional touring contract, also known as a “modified pink contract”.
The union will represent the seven-member crew consisting of stagehands, make-up artists, hair stylists and wardrobe personnel.
This organizing effort was spearheaded by IATSE International Representative Ron Lynch, and follows closely on the heels of the union’s first success with a Troika production late last year when its efforts targeted the Company’s touring production of “The Sound of Music”. “Chicago” is slated to continue its national tour through July 2001.
