IATSE President Applauds Biden/Harris on Historic Victory

IATSE General Board Endorses Obama 2nd Term

NEW YORK, NY — It’s clear the American voters have decided, in our free and fair elections, to elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to lead the United States. And in doing so, we the people have sent a message that we will not tolerate further attempts to divide us and we are prepared to move forward as a country.

IATSE members and union members in general rose to the challenge in order to defeat the forces who have assaulted workers’ rights and enabled discrimination for decades. I witnessed incredible feats of activism across the country, and I believe your work made the difference.

In the immediate, the election of Joe Biden by the American people puts our country solidly on the path to crushing this virus, winning comprehensive COVID-19 relief, and getting IATSE members back to doing what they love.
But beyond that, the voters’ decision delivered a resounding victory for working people, for women, for LGBTQIA+ folks, and for people of color all across this nation. Together, we have affirmed our commitment to having leaders who will protect workers’ collective bargaining rights, ensure healthcare is affordable and accessible, and take action on social issues we care about like racial justice and climate change.

I believe that the Biden Harris administration will be the most significantly pro-labor, pro-worker administration in modern American History, and I look forward to working with and holding accountable President Biden and Vice-President Harris on building this country and this union back, better.

In solidarity,
Matthew D. Loeb, IATSE International President
