IATSE Legislative Notice: H.J. Resolution 83

IATSE General Board Endorses Obama 2nd Term

Workers are facing another legislative attack in the form of H.J. Resolution 83 a Congressional Review Act Resolution of Disapproval which would repeal an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rule. The new rule would weaken the regulations requiring employers to maintain records about work related injuries and illnesses. Without the appropriate records, OSHA will be unable to enforce employer responsibility and accountability.

The I.A.T.S.E. provides its members with safety training through various programs. President Loeb puts an emphasis on I.A.T.S.E. members having a safe work environment.

Worker’s safety should be an utmost priority and any weakening of the regulations surrounding OSHA threatens working families.  The I.A.T.S.E. fundamentally opposes H.J. Resolution 83 and any attempt to undermine the safety regulations protecting workers.
