SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. – The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts (IATSE) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) have tentatively agreed on terms of a new three-year Area Standards Agreement.
The contract, which covers most of the United States outside Los Angeles and New York, addresses a number of matters and provides stability and certainty for the producers, as well as important terms and conditions for IATSE members. Notably, the agreement includes contributions to the IATSE Entertainment and Exhibition Industries Training Trust Fund for the first time. The Training Trust will provide safety training for motion picture workers covered by the contract.
The new agreement is for the period of August 1, 2015, through July 31, 2018. Details of the agreement will not be shared at this time.
“This is a solid contract that addresses important issues for our members. Supporting the Training Trust will make everyone on motion picture sets safer, an initiative wholeheartedly supported by both sides of the table,” stated IATSE International President Matthew D. Loeb.
AMPTP President Carol Lombardini stated, “The AMPTP is pleased to have reached a tentative agreement with the IATSE for a new Area Standards Agreement. The new agreement not only provides stability and certainty to production, but also creates a strategic alliance between labor and management to provide safety training for those who work under it.”
