On Thursday, June 18, Quebec’s National Assembly passed Bill 32, amending Quebec’s Law on the Status of the Artist as well as other related statutes. As a result of the law’s enactment, the IATSE is now formally recognized as a certified bargaining agent representing workers in the motion picture and television industry in Quebec. By clarifying the respective jurisdictions of the IATSE and the AQTIS, the law will allow for peace in Quebec’s film and television industry, which will send a message of stability to producers.
