Discovery Merger Secures Worker Protections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>LOS ANGELES, CA - <\/strong>IATSE welcomed the settlement announced by California Attorney General Rob Bonta regarding the merger of Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the outset, IATSE has made clear that if this merger was going to move forward, it needed to include concrete, enforceable commitments that protect workers, preserve jobs, and support a healthy production ecosystem. With today&#8217;s agreement, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.njoag.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/2026.09.21-Paramount-Filed-Consent-Decree.pdf\">those commitments<\/a><\/strong> are now a condition of the transaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The agreement follows the review conducted by Attorney General Bonta and fellow state attorneys general, who examined the merger&#8217;s impact on competition, workers, and the broader entertainment industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>IATSE International President Matthew D. Loeb said, &#8220;I want to take this opportunity to thank AG Bonta for a job well done in settling with Paramount and achieving protections for workers, enforceable safeguards and other important commitments from the company as the merger may now move forward. I look forward to working with the company and am greatly appreciative of the framework the AGs office put in place to protect IATSE members into the future.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>IATSE International Vice President Michael F. Miller said, \u201cI would like to thank the Attorney General for the time to engage with the industry unions and take seriously the concerns of workers. This agreement reflects that. Workers should not be asked to accept promises on faith when companies pursue major mergers.
