VANCOUVER, BC<\/strong> -<\/strong> Les travailleurs du cin\u00e9ma de l'Okanagan ont ratifi\u00e9 la premi\u00e8re convention collective entre la section locale 891 de l'IATSE et Champlain Media West (CMW), avec 93% des votes exprim\u00e9s en faveur de cet accord novateur. Il s'agit du premier accord pluriannuel que la section locale 891 a sign\u00e9 avec une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de production individuelle en dehors du BC Council of Film Unions et il s'agit d'un grand pas en avant pour faire progresser les possibilit\u00e9s de production cin\u00e9matographique nationale syndiqu\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

\"L'IATSE 891 a obtenu un premier contrat \u00e9quitable qui aura un impact imm\u00e9diat. Il \u00e9tablit des salaires planchers, des indemnit\u00e9s journali\u00e8res pour les lieux de travail \u00e9loign\u00e9s, le paiement de la sant\u00e9 et de la protection sociale, des REER et des indemnit\u00e9s de vacances, et bien s\u00fbr, il permet aux travailleurs de b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier d'une repr\u00e9sentation syndicale\", a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Crystal Braunwarth, repr\u00e9sentante des entreprises, qui a agi en tant que n\u00e9gociatrice principale pour cet accord historique.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sano, organisateur principal, et Conor Moore, autre organisateur, se sont consacr\u00e9s aux travailleurs de la r\u00e9gion au cours des trois derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es et ont ouvert la voie aux n\u00e9gociations contractuelles. Sano a expliqu\u00e9 que l'on n'arrive pas au stade de la n\u00e9gociation avec un employeur sans une bonne dose d'organisation \u00e0 la base. \"Ces travailleurs se battent depuis plus d'un an pour faire de Kelowna une ville syndiqu\u00e9e pour les \u00e9quipes de tournage. Cette victoire appartient aux travailleurs.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Le pr\u00e9sident de l'IATSE 891, Mitch Davies, a exprim\u00e9 son encouragement pour le nouvel accord et ce qu'il signifie pour d'autres travailleurs du cin\u00e9ma non repr\u00e9sent\u00e9s, tout en accueillant la communaut\u00e9 de Kelowna au sein de l'organisation. \"Ces travailleurs ont envoy\u00e9 un message fort : tous les artistes et techniciens du cin\u00e9ma de l'int\u00e9rieur m\u00e9ritent un contrat juste et \u00e9quitable. L'IATSE 891 s'engage \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper la communaut\u00e9 cin\u00e9matographique dans l'Okanagan, par le biais d'une collaboration significative dans la r\u00e9gion.<\/p>\n
